Why You Should Be a Fire Control Technician

The United States Navy is always on the lookout for the best and the brightest to man the different ratings available throughout the branch. This is even more important when talking about those who work on board a submarine. This is because everything has to be done with an extreme amount of accuracy to prevent accidents and injury. Those working as a fire control technician have an added amount of stress they must operate under because they are responsible for the tactical systems the submarine uses to protect itself with.

The Work You Will Do

You will be responsible for working on the different combat systems including tactical targeting and control systems. You will also be responsible for the systems responsible for handling weapons. You will also be in charge of maintaining the different computer systems which are used to regulate the different fire control systems including peripherals.

Where You Will Work

While a lot of the work you will do will be in a clean environment, there are some things you will do in a dirty environment. The basic environment you can expect to work in will be shop-like in nature. This is because you will be working on different mechanical and electrical systems from throughout the submarine.
