Travel the world
Apart from being privileged to protect your country, the opportunity to learn valuable life-enhancing skills and training, perhaps, the biggest attraction of a US Navy career is the lifetime opportunity to travel around the world. And this isn’t a dream … it’s real. After all, the US Navy has port arrangements in several countries, and global reach and presence in all oceans and seas.
Start with the right sails
The ‘sails’ in this case are the network of authorized US Navy recruiters whom you may contact. These are the people who will provide you with all assistance and information on a variety of Navy career options, the basic requirements for admission into the US Navy, and some specifics on what you can expect during your naval service term.
There are some basic requirements to be met and which will make you eligible for admittance into the US Navy. Such eligibility will take into account your age, physical fitness, citizenship status, educational qualifications, and conformity with the US Navy’s alcohol / drug / moral / medical / legal standards and policies currently in force.
On meeting the minimum requirements, you’ll be required to pass an ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test, held at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). From then on, you’ll be well on your way to earning your sails … and traveling to those countries you’ve always dreamed of.
