SEALs are not the only ones that use cold water, however. Athletes use ice baths for treatment to ensure the best performance and recovery. The cold water will actually help your blood vessels tighten, which will push out lactic acid. This is really important for those exercising regularly or working physically intensive jobs.

Showering with Cold Water
You don’t have to start and end your shower with cold water. Instead, you just need to end the shower with about 30 to 60 seconds of cold water. If you want to be a SEAL, you may want to work up to even more time, but be careful as you don’t want to overdo it.
Navy SEALs train in the Pacific Ocean, so getting your body used to cold water before you join the military may help with your training. If nothing else, it could be the key to recovering faster and better performance.
