It’s Never Been a Better Time to Join the U.S. Navy

Job prospects are looking pretty bleak right now. A lot of people have recently lost their jobs, and those who are just starting their careers are out of luck – even people with lots of experience are having a tough time finding a good job.

Fortunately, there are still jobs that offer excellent salaries, great benefits, and the opportunity to finance your education.

They’re in the U.S. Navy.

No More Struggling to Make Your Paycheck Stretch. Salaries for a sailor in the Navy increase pretty quickly as you rise through the ranks; you’ll be eligible for a raise every six to nine months. The starting salary for an officer is $2,555 a month plus allowances and benefits – not shabby when you’re looking at an entry-level position.

What’s more, your salary reaches a lot farther in the Navy. When you’re working a civilian job, every penny of your paycheck goes toward basic living expenses – food, housing and especially health care. Those expenses combined can cost nearly $20,000 a year for even the lowest incomes. No wonder it’s so hard to save money!

As a sailor, all your basic expenses are taken care of. Housing, food, and especially health care are part of your U.S. Navy benefits package. That means your paycheck really is your paycheck – you can spend it however you see fit.

Get a Better Education Without Struggling With Student Loans. When the economy is doing poorly, colleges and lenders clamp down on handing out student loans. Bleak job prospects mean it’s pretty unlikely you can afford to pay for your education yourself.

So in a bad economy, what’s the best way to get an education?

You guessed it: The U.S. Navy.

The Navy values education highly, insisting all its recruits have a high school diploma and all officers earn a degree. Thankfully, they’re also pretty gung-ho about helping willing sailors get there.

The Navy offers money to pay for college expenses, help in paying off student loans, and even offers college courses on their ships and bases. The Navy even offers reimbursement for sailors who attend college during their free time and brings instructors on board to keep deployed sailors up to date on their studies.

That means you can earn credits toward your degree even while actively serving – or be prepared to finance your education immediately after service.

Financially, It’s a Smart Time to Serve in the U.S. Navy. A steady paycheck that allows you to set aside money for the future, a benefits package that far exceeds most civilian jobs and an institution that wants to help you get the best education possible.

There’s no other job like it, especially in a rough economy. Check out link to learn more.
