Get to Know a Career as an Electronics Technician – Navigation

Without any kinds of windows available to see where you are going, the submarine is highly dependent on the use of different computer systems to know where it is going. These different systems will allow a crew to easily navigate the waters ahead and make necessary corrections in depth and direction to avoid detection and to avoid collision. It is highly important that all of the equipment used to navigate the submarine work correctly at all times.

Training for Your Mission

In order to get the rating as a navigation electronics technician in the US Navy, you will have to go through Basic Enlisted Submarine School (BESS) followed by 18 weeks of submarine learning school. This will make sure that you know exactly what you need to when you step on to the job. Your performance in the training schools will help to determine whether you will be able to work in the position or not.
