If you have a passion for helping other people, being a Physician Assistant in the Unites States Navy is a great career opportunity. As a PA, you will assist a supervising physician as they treat sailors for all kinds of physical ailments. Your duties will include performing diagnosis of routine injuries, diseases and disorders after an initial evaluation. You will also go over the instructions for patients to complete at-home care.

As a Navy Physician Assistant, you will receive training in the classroom and on-hand which will allow you to work both in the Navy and in the civilian world. You will learn how to work in emergency situations as well as family practice. You will also get opportunities for postgraduate special training offered only to Medical Service Corps Officers. Assignments include stations at bases and on ships which are a part of your normal progression as a PA in the Navy.

Outside of the training you will receive hands-on, you will also get the opportunity to learn in a traditional medical college. You will qualify for the Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) which pays 100% of your tuition while completing a physician assistant program which qualifies for the program. You can also get a monthly stipend of up to $1,922 for 24 months to assist in your monthly living expenses.
If you have already finished a graduate degree, you can get assistance in the amount of up to $80,000 to help in repaying graduate school loans. The only thing you will need to do is stay a member of the Active Duty Medical Service Corp for each year you receive the loan payment.
